InstallingtheHardwareKey
Typically,you install your hardwarekey as you install the iFIX product.Refer to the InstallingtheiFIXSoftwaresectionformoredetails.Ifyouareupgradingfrom aprevious version,you usually run the electroniclicensingupdatefilefor yourkeybefore installing thenewerversionofiFIx.
IMPoRTANT:DonotremovethehardwarekeyfromyournodewhileiFIXisrunning.If youdo,iFIXfeatureswillshutdownandyouwillneedtorestartiFIX.Youmayalso damagethehardwarekeyifyouremoveitwhileiFixisrunning.
GEFanucsupportstheinstallationof theUSBporthardwarekeyonlyonsystemsrunning Windows2000,WindowsXP,orWindowsServer2003.Atthistime,GEFanucdoesnot supportUSBkeysconnectedthroughanexternalUSBhub.

General Installation Information
TouseiFIX andother GEFanucproducts,youmustpurchasetheproductwith thedesired options from GE Fanuc.Depending on the optionsyou buy,you may need to replaceyour current key or run an update program on your existing key to enable the options.If you are upgradingfrom an earlier version of iFIX, you will also need to update or replace your key.
For older keys (M1 HASP keys),use the GE Fanuc iKeyDiag utility to view the optionsenabled.
Fornewerkeys(M4HASPkeys),usetheProficyLicenseViewer toviewthe optionsenabled
NOTE:IfyoutrytoruniKeyDiagandanewerkeyisinstalled,anerrormessageappears Similarly,ifyoutrytoruntheProficyLicenseViewerwhenanolderkeyisinstalled,an errormessageappears.Should anerrormessageappear,try startingtheotherutility to viewtheenabledoptions.
TIP:BoththeiKeyDiagortheProficyLicenseViewerprogramscanbeusedtoprovide technicalsupportpersonnelwithinformationaboutyouriFixhardwarekey.

IntheProficyProductslist,select theiFlXproduct.TheLicense andKey DiagnosticsareashouldnowdisplaytheiFIXoptions.
